Joyce Gail Wolven Welch, 72, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010. She was born on September 22, 1937 to Everett A. and Nina G. (Pope) Wolven. Joyce worshiped with the Eastside Church of Christ where she was an active member for 35 years. A resident of Franklin Township for 47 years, she drove a school bus for the Franklin Township Schools after working several years at Western Electric. Preceding her in death were her husband of 50 years, Paul T. Welch and her brother, Maurice Wolven. She is survived by her three children, Dennis (Sharon) Welch, Cynthia (Joseph) Riley, and Doug Welch and as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren, brothers Virgil (Mary Ann), Wayne (Donita), and Darrell (Jane) Wolven and sister, Rosalee (Edward) Stone and a multitude of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, at 1 p.m. at the Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home; Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel, 5342 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, with visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 8th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Rather than flowers, the family requests donations be made to feed poor children in Cambodia.
