Atha J. Wells, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born March 18, 1931 in New Washington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie (Robison) Cole. Atha was married to Donald Ray Wells, who died Nov. 6, 1965. She was a retired teacher's aide for Scott County School District # 2 in Scottsburg, Indiana for 21 years but continued working cleaning businesses & houses until a month ago and was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter: Brenda (Tom) Kendall of Underwood, Indiana; a son: Stephen Ray Wells of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother: Lee Cole of New Washington, Indiana; a sister: Anita Barnes of Salem, Indiana; three sister in laws: Janet Johnson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Carol Gibson of Lexington, Indiana & Alegra Cole of Midland City, Alabama; a brother in law: Michael Wells of Oakland, California; five grandchildren: Brian (Susan), Jason (Amberley) and Aaron Kendall & Brandon (Chassidy) and Cameron Wells; six great grandchildren: Cailyn Wells, Avery, Emellie, Braden & Brandt Kendall and Shalah Wells. Atha was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Cole. Interment at Scottsburg Cemetery, Memorial Contributions: Her church or the American Heart Association c/o Collins Funeral Home.
