Elizabeth L. Harmon of Lexington, Indiana died on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 6:05 PM at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 9 days. She was born on August 14, 1928 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Frederick Joseph and Louise (Thomas) Clements. Elizabeth was married on Jan. 30, 1954 to Donald K. Harmon, who survives. She was a homemaker and also a former secretary for the old Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Indiana, a member of the Church of the American Martyrs, where she served as the Eucharistic Minister for the sick, served as the sacristan for the daily masses and also very active in the floral arrangements for the altar. She was also a member of the Oblate Mission for St. Meinrad and was very active in several charitable organizations and was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year Award by Clemson, South Carolina Rotary Club in 1984 for service leadership including Meals on Wheels, Ministering to the Spiritual Needs of the Homebound, and organizing relief and caring for the poor and forgotten. Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Robert E.L. (Deborah) Harmon of Columbus, Indiana, John F. (Mary) Harmon of Napierville, Illinois and Thomas H. (Leticia) Harmon of Apex, North Carolina; three daughters, Elizabeth G. (Glenn) Rosenberg of Louisville, Kentucky, Lucinda T. (Richard) Johnson of Queen Creek, Arizona and Isabelle V. Dale of Newtown, Connecticut; two sisters, Margaret H. Moore of South Bend, Indiana and Beverly Ann Thallemer of Warsaw, Indiana; 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Clements and sister, Mary Marcella Krzywkowski. A Rosary Service will be conducted on Sunday at 7:30 pm at Collins Funeral Home. Cremation was chosen following the funeral mass. Memorial Contributions: St. Labre Indian School c/o Collins Funeral Home.
