William Maurer William Joseph Maurer, 72, of Evansville passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Simon Maurer, his mother, Nellie Marie Feast, and two brothers, George Snelling, Sr. and Michael Maurer. William was a retired employee of the Evansville State Hospital for 47years where he served as Director of Environmental Services. He was a family man who enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and telling an occasional joke. He was of the Catholic faith and had an infectious spirit. He touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew him. William is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Christine Maurer; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Peyton of Evansville; children, Angela (Mike) Pund, Timothy (Jackie) Maurer of KY, Susan (Steven) Maurer; grandchildren, Shaun Higdon, Alicia (Scott) Higdon, Kristie Higdon, all of Evansville, Lucas, Daniel, & Jamie Maurer, all of KY; great-grandchildren, Seth Higdon & Aaliyah Brown.
