Everett Collins Sanders, age 96, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 23, 2010 at his residence in Franklin. He was born on November 1, 1913 in Roachdale, Indiana to Franklin and Nellie (Layne) Sanders. He married Lucille Idamae (James) Sanders on June 14, 1941. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Linda and Don Haddock; daughter-in-law Bernadine Sanders; grandchildren Daniel Haddock, Matthew Haddock, Luke Haddock and wife Stefka, Ruth Sanders and Martha Lucille Sanders and husband John and great-grandchildren Giselle Haddock, Naomi Haddock, Andrew Haddock, Lauren Shimamoto and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife Lucille; sons Robert Sanders and Fred Sanders; brother Charles Sanders and sisters Mary Tilford, Mildred McCall and Ann Korbley. Mr. Sanders received his masters' degree in Library Science from Indiana University in Bloomington. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was employed by the Kansas City Public Library. He later was employed as the Director of Libraries in Springfield, Missouri from 1963 to 1979. He was a member of the Civil War Round Table in Springfield, Missouri. He was a proud member of the exclusive society of the FF of A which he co- founded with his grand-niece Amy Mills. Mr. Sanders enjoyed his daily two mile walks around Franklin. A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Saturday, March 27th from 1:00 p.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Sanders Memorial Fund, Kansas City Academy, 7933 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
