L. Jeanne Carter, age 66, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 13, 2010 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a longtime resident of Franklin. She was born on November 29, 1943 in Vincennes to Ives and Hattie (McBride) Poindexter. She married Hugh Edgar Carter on March 6, 1965. He lovingly survives in Franklin. Other survivors include daughter Cassi (Rusty) Mann of Franklin; son Chris Carter of Trafalgar; granddaughter Brooke Runyan of Franklin; step-granddaughter Maggie Mann of Franklin; brother-in-law Mike McQuinn of Greenwood and sisters Dee Woodruff of Linton and Jo Dearmin of Odon, and brother Dr. B.K. Poindexter of Bluffton. She was preceded in passing by her parents and sisters Shirley Poindexter, Patty Ann Fiscus and Marjorie Anderson. She was a graduate of Sandborn High School. She attended Vincennes University. Jeanne was a self-employed Interior Designer. She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Franklin. In 1963, Jeanne was Miss South West Indiana and participated in the Miss Indiana Pageant in Michigan City, Indiana. Jeanne enjoyed working many years at the election polls. She was an avid gardener. Rev. David Lee will conduct a service on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin.
