Eugene Lester Barger, 90, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. He was born to Nolan and Letha (Betts)Barger in Brown Co. on April 14, 1920. Survivors include sons Joe Barger (Gay) of Franklin, Mike Barger (Jan) of Franklin; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother Robert Barger (Laura Jean) of Franklin; 3 sisters, Marjorie Whitt, Thana Carlisle both of Franklin, Berniece Irving (Gene) of Martinsville; 4 step-children, Dick Million (Linda) of Franklin, Brenda Beck (Mike) of Texas, Dennis Million (Annie) of Greensburg; 26 step- grandchildren; and 20 great-step grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents, son Jerry Barger; sister Pat; brother Nolan Jr.; step brothers Paul Irland, Donald Million; first wife Helen Roth Barger; and second wife Mary Million Barger. He was a member of Nineveh Masonic Lodge #317 for 60 years; Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite; Indianapolis Shrine Club; and Nineveh OES #466. Gene was a Johnson County Highway Department Superintendant; Johnson County Commissioner; He and his brother Robert owned Barger Construction for more than 20 years. He was a foreman for Prosser Construction and CR Morris Construction. He was also a farmer and gardener until 2007. He moved into the Indiana Masonic Home in 1994; Member of the Jollity U.M.C. His favorite pastime was going to breakfast with his grandson Jerry after church. He enjoyed fishing with Donnie Million and Friday nights at the Franklin Auction; He enjoyed the mushrooms found by his grandsons. A service will be conducted on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10:30am at Flinn & Maguire F.H. in Franklin. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 4-8pm also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jollity U.M.C. in care of Gay Barger 4813 E. 250 S.
