Elwyn T. "ET" " Bud" Winks, Jr., age 87, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010. He was a resident of Franklin. He was born on July 4, 1922 in Williamsport, Indiana to Elwyn T. Winks, Sr. and Eleanor (McDonald) Winks. He married Barbara J. (Peyton) Winks on January 16, 1949. She lovingly survives in Franklin. Other survivors include children Christopher (Kathy) Winks of Everett, Washington; Kenneth Winks of Indianapolis; Deborah (Michael) Pitcher of Franklin; Rebecca (Robin) Winks of West Lafayette and Cheryl (Mike) Miller of New Whiteland; sister Peggy Cotrim of Sao Paula, Brasil, S.A.; two brothers John Winks of Mooresville and David Winks of Florida; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents, sister Nadine McGaughey and brother Gene Winks. He was a graduate of Veedersburg High School. Mr. Winks served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945. In the late 40's Mr. Winks owned and operated Winks Dairy with his father. They would pick up raw milk from dairy farmers, pasteurized it, made chocolate milk, cottage cheese, butter and other dairy products. Then they would deliver it to customers on many routes around Hendricks County. After that, he got into the construction business, and later developed his own company, Wink's Construction Company which he ran for many years. He was a member of the Franklin Memorial Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. Rev. Larry McAdams will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Saturday, May 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Memorial Christian Church and/or the Alzheimer Association.
